Doggy Fat CampObesity in dogs is on the increase as it is in people. It is linked not only to exercise but also to feeding, not just the amount but the products. Obviously exercise is important and many people just don't have the time or knowledge to help their dog lose that extra pound or two! The first couple of weeks of change can be as daunting for the owner as to their pet, it is so hard when they stare at you lovingly and that is why we're here. We do the hard bits for you and you go away with a happier, healthier pet and a more informed you! Just a few examples of the kind of health problems you might encounter with the obese dog are: Joint or Locomotion Difficulties Heart and Respiratory Disease Diabetes Liver and Kidney Problems Heat Intolerance Skin Complaints Gastrointestinal Disorders Plus many more! Some vets are now refusing to operate on obese dogs because of the pressure on their organs whilst they are under the anaesthetic. If your pet ever had an accident or illness requiring urgent surgery your pet may be in serious trouble. Not only does being overweight affect your pet physically they may also wish they could run that bit faster, walk for a bit longer or just fit in that great basket they used to have! Doggy Fat Camp is intended to be a fun experience for your pet rather than a boot camp. They are still treated and fed the correct amounts for their breed, age and build. They are not put on treadmills or over exerted which is why we are not a 'quick fix'. We start the programme and then advise you the owner on how to move forward. You will be asked to fill in a questionaire when you drop your pet off asking a few simple questions about your current feeding and exercise routines and roughly how much you are able to spend on food and how much time you can spend exercising your dog. We will then take this into consideration when making up your pet's plan as there is no point in sending you home with a plan that you are unable to maintain.
Your pet will go away with: * A Certificate of Weight Lost * Recommended Exercise Routine * Recommended Feeding Routine * Diary of Progress * Photograph Album of their Progress!
